Little Britain

from First Minds by Simon Pyke & James Buttery

/

lyrics

Little Britain was ripe to self-deceive
coerced, abused by those supposed to lead
A pound shop Enoch Powell hung around and stoked her fears
Dark arts, mind control made her blame the europeans

(  has it always been the way it is now or was I just sleep walking out there in the real world
What did I miss? dodging hazards luckily missing every single pot hole and every ankle breaking situation)

Round here lately she feels like she don’t make a difference
she wonders, maybe  is this what they want?

From then things got bad and now are getting worse
led by her greedy mind short termism’s the curse on all of us

Round here lately she’s noticed a negative difference
now she’s more certain that she’s been lied to
totally lost like a tiny boat out on the water
just like the rest all she wants is her home

when she bangs that drum it makes her world come undone
while hate is in her heart she will surely fall apart, all alone

Cos round here she’s missed and she’s needed by all of the people
who forgive and forget who just want her home
When she opens up her heart she always makes a difference
everyone round here just hopes you hear this
